New Delhi, February 1 (IANS): After the presentation of the Union Budget, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that it was a zero-sum budget of the Union government.
Rahul Gandhi tweeted: “Zer0 Sum budget of M0di government!” In his tweet, Rahul Gandhi deliberately put the number ‘zero’ instead of the letter ‘O’, criticizing the Budget as a whole.
He added, “Nothing for the working class, the middle class, the poor and deprived, the youth, the farmers and the MSMEs.”
Earlier, Chief Congress Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said: “India’s working class and middle class were hoping for relief in times of pandemic. Global wage cuts and back-breaking inflation. FM & PM have once again deeply disappointed them with direct tax measures. This is a betrayal of India’s working and middle class. #Budget2022”
However, the Minister of Finance, giving some relief to taxpayers, announced that updated tax returns can now be filed within two years. But there was no change in the tax slabs.
Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said: “The budget focused on the interests of big business friends of Prime Minister Modi. It did not address unemployment and inflation issues. This budget will only ‘increase inequality and will leave most of our population vulnerable and dependent on handouts.’
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted: “On the one hand, the budget is about climate action and environmental protection. On the other hand, it pushes ecologically disastrous projects of river connection. The rhetoric sounds good. Modi’s government is on a destructive path.”
