Udupi, November 17: The district administration, in accordance with the guidelines mentioned in the central government’s Minimum Support Price (MSP) program for the year 2021-22, has ordered the procurement of paddy from farmers in the district who wish to sell paddy from quality FAQ under the said regime. Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd has been appointed as the paddy collection agency.

During the Kharif season for the year 2021-22, it was ordered to procure normal QQF grade paddy at Rs 1,940 per quintal and A grade paddy at Rs 1,960 per quintal. Red paddy species are excluded.

Steps have been taken to open farmer registration centers at the Agricultural Commodity Market Committee sites in Udupi, Karkala and Kundapur taluks. Measures to include the local red species of paddy rice will be taken under the minimum support price program after the corresponding instructions are received from the government, Deputy District Commissioner Kurma Rao said in a statement.

The deputy commissioner said that due to untimely rains, the rice crop grown by farmers was damaged. He asked those concerned to undertake an on-site inspection jointly by the departments of revenue, agriculture and horticulture and register them according to central government guidelines in the compensation software.
