“The state government effectively maintains law and order”

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said here on Tuesday that the BJP government is effectively maintaining law and order and social harmony in the state. The government has taken strong and impartial action to maintain order, he said.

Speaking to reporters, the chief minister said that whenever there was a public order problem, the state government had dealt with it firmly to restore order.

Responding to a question about the ban on non-Hindus doing business near the temple premises and the activities of some businesses that could tarnish his own image, Mr. Bommai said: “There have been a few unfortunate incidents. from the coastal region. The government has taken severe measures against these elements and outfits that stir up community passions. The government has taken action without any bias in the recent incidents of an attack on a watermelon vendor, a murder in Shivamogga and the incidents in Kolar.

On another question whether the party will fight the elections on the Hindutva issue or the state government development ballot, the chief minister said it will be based on the development works. “Welfare of fishermen, community development, tourism development, industrialization and hard work of our workers will help the party do well in the election campaign,” he said.
