Hyderabad, May 10 (IANS): A young man from Telangana dialed 100 late at night to call the police – and order two bottles of beer!

The bizarre incident happened in Vikarabad district under the boundaries of Doulatabad police station.

A young man from the village of Goka Faslabad called the police on 100 saying he was in danger. When the police reached the village about seven kilometers away, they were shocked when he ordered them to bring him beer.

The 22-year-old was attending a wedding party and was intoxicated. Identified as J. Madhu, he told the officers that he had consumed the alcohol he had and some beer. He said that since all the wine shops are closed, he had to ask the police for help. Young people even claimed that the police were helping people in need.

Police personnel left after gathering information about Madhu. The next day, a complaint is filed against him. A police officer said he was summoned to the police station with his father and given advice.

This is the second such incident in Telangana in less than two months.

In March, a man from Nalgonda district repeatedly dialed 100 to complain that his wife had not prepared mutton curry.

The bizarre incident happened in Holi when a man identified by Naveen dialed 100 not once but six times late at night to file a complaint against his wife.

The police located the appellant and the following morning a few officers arrived at his home and took him into custody.

Police have urged people not to abuse the 100 dialing feature as it will waste valuable time and could affect their response to genuine emergency calls.
