Patna, April 5 (IANS): RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has criticized Nitish Kumar’s government for growing “lawlessness” in Bihar, saying criminals are using AK-47 assault rifles to commit crimes.

Accusing the state government of failing in every aspect, he alleged that the policies of Nitish Kumar’s government are not being implemented on the ground “thanks to the ruthless approach of bureaucrats and policemen on the ground. ground”.

Regarding the amendment to the Alcohol Prohibition Act, Tejashwi said that alcohol prohibition has completely failed in Bihar and hence the amendment is meaningless.

Nitish Kumar’s government on Monday amended the Alcohol Prohibition Act under which first-time offenders can be eligible for bail after paying Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 before a magistrate on duty. This is, however, conditional and only applies to the background of the offenders.

In the case of an offender unable to pay the fine, he is liable to a normal prison term of one month. In the event of recidivism, a maximum of 10 years in prison is mentioned in the amended law.
