New Delhi, October 8 (IANSlife): TEDxGateway, an independently hosted TED event, and the government of Maharashtra today announced TEDx Gateway Countdown 2021, a global initiative to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis and turn ideas into action. Scheduled for October 31, 2021, starting at 4:00 p.m. IST, this first virtual event of its kind will bring together a range of speakers including climate activists, clean energy experts, innovators, researchers and scientists, humanitarians, entrepreneurs, investors, artists, among others to share their stimulating, inspiring and evidence-based ideas.

Looking ahead to COP-26, the TEDx 2021 gateway countdown will play a major role in shaping the discourse on the history of climate change in India. It will be the biggest ideation platform for the countries of the South. TED’s global initiative, TEDx Gateway Countdown aims to build a better future by halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 in a race to a zero carbon world – a safer, cleaner and more just world for all. The TEDx Gateway Countdown event in India is an extension of the global event bringing together international speakers from around the world such as Nobel Laureate Al Gore, United Nations high-level climate action champion Nigel Topping, the electrification lawyer Monica Araya and animal scientist Ermias Kebreab, among others.
Countdown to 2021 will highlight five fundamental interconnected tracks that shape the blueprint for a cleaner future
* Energy: How fast can we switch to 100% clean energy?
* Transportation: How can we improve the way we move people and things?
* Materials: How can we re-imagine and redo things?
* Nature: How to better protect and re-green the earth?
* Food: How can we trigger a global transition to a healthier food system?
Aaditya Thackeray, Minister of Tourism, Environment and Protocol, Government of Maharashtra, to deliver special remarks on the 2021 TEDx Gateway countdown and talk about government efforts to strengthen conversations and concrete results on change climate in the state and the plan developed to take that towards a cleaner future.
The Government of Maharashtra’s Department of Environment and Climate Change has taken action that offers significant impact and milestones. These costly initiatives offer crucial steps towards improving the environment and reiterate the government’s commitment to climate change. Some of the measures launched by the state government for the conservation and protection of the environment include – Majhi Vasundhara (My Earth), a holistic initiative to raise awareness among citizens of climate change impacts and issues environmental; the Mumbai Climate Change Action Plan which includes initiatives such as Women for Climate, the Cities for Forests Campaign and the e-Bus mission; and the Maharashtra EV 2021 policy.
