Tamil Nadu minister’s daughter seeks protection from B’luru police

Bangalore, March 7 (IANS): The newly married daughter of a Tamil Nadu minister contacted the Bengaluru Police Commissioner on Monday to seek protection from her father.

Jayakalyani, daughter of Hindu Minister for Religious and Charitable Endowments PK Sekar Babu, who is the close confidante of Chief Minister MK Stalin, sought protection with her husband Satish Kumar, police said.

She submitted a memorandum to Police Commissioner Kamal Pant.

Speaking to the media, the minister’s daughter said she had been in love with Satish Kumar for many years, which her family objected.

“My parents objected to my love for Satish Kumar. When I tried to marry him a few months ago, the police arrested him and took him into custody for two months,” he said. she adds.

“I suspect my dad’s role behind it all. I’m an adult. We both love each other and got married,” Jayakalyani said.

“We received death threats if we returned to Tamil Nadu so we contacted the Bengaluru Police Commissioner to ask for protection,” she added.

Hindu activist Bharath Shetty said the couple approached them on social media asking for help getting married.

“We held a wedding ceremony according to the Hindu tradition. They were threatened with death by the girl’s family and so they are asking for security from the Bengaluru police,” he added.
