Pune police file FIR against 8 Shiv Sena leaders

Pune, Feb 6 (IANS): Eight Shiv Sena leaders were arrested by Pune police on Sunday for allegedly assaulting BJP leader Kirit Somaiya.

The FIR was filed at Shivaji Nagar Police Station under Sections 143, 147, 149, 341, 336, 337, 323, 504, 37(1) and 135 of the IPC.

The IANS has accessed the FIR copy.

Those named as suspected defendants in the FIR are Chairman of Shiv Sena Pune, Sanjay More, Chandan Shalunke, Kiran Sali, Suraj Lokhande, Akash Shinde, Rupesh Panwar, Rajender Shinde and Shani Gavte.

On Saturday, Kirit Somaiya had visited the Pune Municipal Corporation when he was allegedly roughed up by Shiv Sena leaders.

Kirit Somaiya went to the Pune Municipal Corporation to file a complaint over alleged financial irregularities in the setting up of the Covid-19 Jumbo Hospital.

On the other hand, the leaders of the Shiv Sena claimed their innocence saying that they only wanted to talk to Kirit Somaiya.

Somaiya said he went to the Pune Municipal Corporation and filed a complaint against the family partner of Chief Shiv Sena, Sanjay Raut, Sujeet Patker Lifeline Hospital Management Services for COVID Center Scam.

Now he has filed an FIR against eight Shiv Sena leaders.

Pune Police are investigating the matter.
