PA Government Appoints Jumbo TTD Trust Board of Directors

Tirupati, September 16 (IANS): The government of Andhra Pradesh has appointed a giant-sized board of directors of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which manages the affairs of the world’s richest temple in Tirumala near here.

The state government released three separate GOs on Wednesday evening, constituting an 82-member board of trustees – the largest board of trusts ever formed by a government since the TTD was created in 1932.

In addition to appointing 28 members to the board of trustees, the government has appointed 52 special guests with equal privileges as member directors.

The YSR Congress Party government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has re-appointed the former Chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Indian Cements MD N. Srinivasan, the chairman of the My Home J. Rameswar Rao group, the charman of the Hetero group Dr B. Parthsardhi Reddy and some other eminent personalities as members.

The government issued a second GO appointing Tirupati MP Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and Brahmin Corporation chairman Sudhakar as special guests.

As part of a third GO, the government has appointed 50 other special guests.

Last month, the government re-appointed YV Subba Reddy as president and Chandragiri lawmaker Dr Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy as an ex-officio member of the TTD.

Subba Reddy, the maternal uncle of the Chief Minister, was appointed TTD chairman for a second term.

He was first appointed in 2019 and his two-year term ended in June 2022.

According to the GO, special guests will enjoy privileges comparable to those of TTD Trust board members when it comes to darshan, and their tenure will coincide with that of the board. However, they will have no voting rights when the board passes resolutions.

Muramshetty Ramulu, leader of the ruling Telangana party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), YSRCP MPs Burra Madhusudan Yadav (Kanigiri), Kiliveti Sanjeevaiah (Sullurpeta) and Katasani Rambhupal Reddy (Panyam constituency), Tamil AP Nanda MLAumnat and Karasani Viswanath Reddy was among those appointed as members of the board of directors.

Former Minister of Pondicherry Malladi Krishna Rao, Pokala Ashok, Tanguturu Maruthi Prasad, Manne Jeevan Reddy, Rajesh Sharma, Bora Saurabh, Kalvakurthy Vidyasagar, Pachipala Sanath Kumar, Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy, Dr Kethan Desairayi, BoodNhavuri and Allhavuri Milveduri, Dr Kethan Desairayi, BoodNhavuri and SMhavuri Dr S. Shankar were also appointed members.

The principal secretary, the revenue department (endowment fund), the commissioner of the endowment department, the chairman of the Tirupati Urban Development Authority and the general manager (EO) of TTD are among the ex officio members.
