Mangaluru: Robbery Accused Injures Konaje Police Sub-Inspector

Mangaluru, March 24: In an incident late Wednesday night March 23 within the confines of Konaje Police Station, a robbery defendant stabbed and injured a police officer. The incident occurred when a police team went to take the accused into custody for questioning.

During this attack, Konaje Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Sharanappa was injured. He was admitted to a hospital.

Konaje police had obtained reliable information that a person accused of stealing a valuable wristwatch was hiding in his mother-in-law’s house in the village of Pavoor. The police raided the scene. In the past too, the accused had managed to flee after stabbing and injuring police officers. In this case, the accused had gone to a store to sell a valuable watch that he had stolen. The store owner had passed on information to the police. When the police went to the store based on this information to catch the thief, the accused had attacked the police station staff of Bunder, Vinod and Praveen, with a weapon that looked like a knife, and escaped in his two-wheeler.

PSI Sharanappa

After getting information that he was hiding at his mother-in-law’s residence in Pavoor, Konaje Police Sub-Inspector Sharanappa and staff raided the scene. The robbery accused stabbed Sharanappa and escaped after injuring him. Sharanappa, was admitted to KS Hegde Hospital in Deralakatte here for treatment.
