Mangaluru, April 6: City Police Commissioner N Shashikumar said on Wednesday April 6 that the police department will issue notices to industrial, commercial, residential and quiet zones as per the notification from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the union to maintain ambient noise standards in accordance with noise pollution. (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000 amended 2010 framed by the Environment (Protection) Act 1986 when using loudspeakers.

Speaking to the media at his office here on Wednesday April 6, he said: “Under Mangaluru police station, police have identified 1,001 locations where loudspeakers are being used. In accordance with the notification, a notice will be served on these institutions to maintain ambient noise. standards when using loudspeakers. Notice will be sent to 357 temples, 168 masjids, 95 churches, 106 educational institutions, 60 industrial zones, 98 entertainment zones, 68 wedding halls and program centers and 49 other public places,” he said. .

In the said rule, day time will mean 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and night time will mean 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., he added.

In any location, if noise standards are violated when using loudspeakers and sound is used louder than the prescribed decibels, action will be taken according to law, he said. warned.
