Mangaluru, December 3: Two groups of students, residing in the hostel of a university college in the city, clashed in the Gujjarakere district of the city. Certain personal problems would be at the origin of the explosion.
According to the details, the plaintiff Adarsh Premkumar (21) is a 3rd year Bachelor of Science (Hospitality) student at one of the city’s colleges. He is a resident of Kollam in Kerala. He resides in an apartment at Light House Hill Road in the city. Adarsh was speaking with his friend Abhirami around 7 p.m. on December 2, when Sinan and eight other students from the same college attacked him with interlock and stones. His left hand broke. Mohammed Nasif was also injured in the assault. The plaintiff also said that his friends Shenin and Shravan are threatened with death by the same gang.
Police arrested Aditya, Ken Johnson, Mohammed, Abdul Shahid and Vimal in this regard. Two other defendants fled.
Police officers attended the said college hostel in Gujjarakere at around 10 p.m. to provide protection for Shenin and Shravan, whom the complainant Adarsh said were threatened with death. However, Deputy Inspector Sheetal and police department staff were attacked with locks, stones and chairs by inmates at the hostel. Five policemen were injured in the assault.
A counter-case is also filed by Abdul Sinan against Adarsh and his friends. In this regard, the police arrested Fahad, Abu Tahar, Mohammed Nasif and Adarsh.
Ismail, Ismail Anwar, Jad Al Gaffoor, Tamam and Sinan are also injured in the counterattack.
Municipal Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar attended the scene of the crime. Further investigation is underway.
