Mangaluru: Free Foie Gras Screening Camp for Police Service Members by SCS Hospital

Press release

Mangaluru, October 28: On Sunday, October 24, a free screening camp for fatty liver disease was organized by the SCS hospital for the police service from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nearly 65 police officers have opted for screening for fatty liver disease. Liver problems, including fatty liver disease, if not detected and treated early can lead to long-term problems and permanent liver damage.

During screening, doctors were able to find important information of great value and enable patients in need of medical intervention to seek help. The camp was led by Dr Chandrashekar J Sorake, gastroenterologist and consultant hepatologist at SCS hospital assisted by Dr Shalini, Dr Afridi and the hospital team. A free screening and consultation followed by an educational conference and presentation by the hospital’s medical team to police personnel were the highlights of the day.

The police staff were very grateful to the doctors and management of SCS Hospital for the counseling and free testing for fatty liver disease which they found to be beneficial. The hospital plans to hold a few other similar free camps for the benefit of the general public in the near future.
