Mangalore University Special Examination Candidates Request Schedule Change | Mangaluru News

MANGALURU: The decision by the University of Mangalore (MU) to schedule special exams for all semesters simultaneously, without consulting colleges, has inconvenienced students who sit for exams that began on Tuesday. The students have asked the university to make the necessary changes to the special exams schedule.
The special exam is organized for candidates who were unable to sit for the semester exams due to Covid-19 and related reasons. The exam is organized for first, second, third, fourth and fifth semester candidates.
The bone of contention is that all of these semester exams are being held together. Rajashekar Hebbar, director of P Dayananda Pai Satish Pai Government First Grade College, Car Street, said that currently exams are being held for candidates who were unable to sit for exams due to Covid-19. Along with them, the exam is also organized for the students who were behind in the second semester exam. “As a result, suppose a candidate has a second semester backlog and did not pass the third semester exam due to Covid, the candidate will not be able to sit for both. On Wednesday, we had three such incidents, and the same thing was brought to the attention of those in charge of the MU, ”he added.
A head teacher complained that MU only allowed students with Covid-19 who were unable to take the exam to take the special exam. However, he did not take into account the students, especially from Kerala, who could not make it to their colleges due to travel restrictions. Why not allow them to take the special exam? he does.
PS Yadapadithaya, vice-chancellor of the University of Mangalore, said the university will allow students who have been inconvenienced to take the exam, during special exams held for sixth semester candidates.
