Thiruvananthapuram, January 9 (IANS): Kerala police have arrested seven people in a partner-for-sex swap after a woman lodged a complaint with the Karukachal police in Kottayam district.
Police said that while seven people have been arrested, more than 25 people are under observation and more arrests are likely to be made in a few days.
More than 1,000 couples are part of these groups and exchange women, according to the police.
Police said the accused was from three districts of the state, adding that people from all over the state were part of the racketeering.
Sources also said that several people from the upper echelons of society were part of this group.
A senior Kottayam police official told IANS: “The modus operandi is to join the Telegram and Messenger groups first, and then two or three couples meet periodically. Police said a detailed investigation was underway to find out the finer details of those involved in this women’s exchange group and whether those members of the group had any connections with other groups.
