Gurugram: Man shot dead, police suspect rivalry

Gurugram, April 22 (IANS): A 35-year-old man was reportedly shot dead by an armed assailant while riding a bicycle in the village of Bilaspur Khurd in Gurugram, police said on Friday.

The accused fired several bullets, five of which hit the victim and he died instantly, they said.

The accused had attempted to flee, but was caught by the deceased’s cousin brothers and handed over to the police.

The police investigation revealed that on Thursday evening the victim, Deepak, was present in front of a house he had rented out, when he was shot.

The complaint Sandeep, the cousin brother of the deceased, told police that a man, identified as Kailash, a resident of Rohtak, fired multiple bullets at Deepak.

“Kailash was previously residing in Deepak’s rented accommodation, that’s why I know him too. Following an old feud, he shot Deepak and tried to flee the scene, but was caught by cousin brothers Mukesh and Rajesh,” the complainant told police.

In connection with the incident, a murder case, including weapons law, was filed against the accused.

“We are interviewing the accused to determine the real motive for the murder. Further investigation is underway,” said a police officer who is being persecuted by the case.
