Patna, January 7 (IANS): Annoyed that they illegally charged bikers money, angry villagers beat up four police officers in the village of Azimchak in Patna, an official said on Friday.
The incident happened on January 2 and his video was shared on social media Thursday evening.
Villagers claimed that a police team from Gaurichak station used to illegally charge bikers money when checking their vehicles in Azimchak village.
“On January 2, they motioned for a motorcyclist to stop because he was not wearing a helmet. As he tried to escape the area, the police beat him with batons. motorcyclist injured himself and fell to the ground, “said a villager. on condition of anonymity.
When the injured motorcyclist informed the other villagers of the incident, they arrived there within minutes to speak to authorities. However, when the police also threatened the villagers, they dragged staff from inside the gypsy and brutally beat them.
The injured police officers were identified as the Deputy Inspector (PSI) Bambam Kumar and three officers named Devendra Paswan, Pappu Kumar and Rajendra Prasad Yadav.
They claimed that when the biker saw them checking the vehicles, he tried to escape from the area and was involved in the accident. As he was not wearing a helmet, he suffered injuries to his head and other parts of his body. They didn’t hit the biker with a stick.
“We recorded an FIR based on statements and video evidence available against four people. A manhunt was launched to arrest the accused,” said Lalmani Dubey, SHO of the Gaurichak police station.
