Delhi Police Organize Bus To Nihangs To Bangla Sahib

New Delhi, December 2 (IANS): About 80 farmers, many of them Nihang Sikhs, were arrested Thursday in Mukarba Chowk, in the national capital, on their way to Bangla Sahib Gurdwara, but were allowed to continue their journey in a bus arranged for them, a Delhi police announced.

“One of the buses taking them to Bangla Sahib stopped for technical reasons. But we quickly organized another bus for them. The situation is normal in Mukurba Chowk and there has been no clash with the police, “said a police official.

As farmers have protested at Delhi‘s borders for more than a year, several incidents of clashes between protesters and Delhi police have been reported. Here, Delhi Police have deployed additional staff and often speak to farmer leaders and Haryana Police to keep the peace.

These Nihangs wanted to go to gurdwara when they were allegedly arrested at Mukurba Chowk, and Delhi police personnel were on their guard because of this as they feared the situation would turn out badly.

However, senior Delhi Police officials spoke to Nihangs and assured them that they would be allowed but only on Delhi Police buses. According to the sources, Nihangs agreed and the buses were made available.

“When we learned of the Nihang rally in Mukurba Chowk, we immediately informed our senior officials. A team immediately went there to examine the situation, which was peaceful. they wanted to go to Gurdwara Bangla Sahib. We then organized buses for them, ”said a senior police official.
