Delhi police arrest two snipers from Sonu Dariyapur gang

New Delhi, October 31 (IANS): Delhi police on Sunday arrested two snipers from the city’s notorious Sonu Dariyapur gang for opening fire in the Bawana area.

The two defendants have been identified as Roshan alias Sumit Sahani, 23, and Ankit Dabas alias Vishu, 22.

According to police, the gangsters who demanded 50 lakh Rs from the owner of Neelgiri Machinery, came by motorbike and opened fire near the factory in the Bawana region on October 26.

They also handed a worker a threat note before they left.

“A case under the gun law has been registered at the Bawana police station,” said a police official.

A team under Deputy Police Commissioner (ACP) Arvind Kumar has been formed to investigate the case. After examining all the evidence, they apprehended the two criminals from Barwala.

During questioning, they admitted their involvement in the crime. The motorbike used was recovered in their possession, police said.

“While Roshan was riding the motorbike, Ankit opened fire to scare the workers and handed over the threat letter. They were hiding in Sonepat’s Gannaur. The Crime Branch team arrested the two criminals from Barwara,” said ACP Arvind Kumar.

Police Co-Commissioner, Crime, Alok Kumar said efforts were being made to locate other gang members.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
