New Delhi, November 30 (IANS): Delhi police have arrested two other illegal arms suppliers in connection with an illegal arms racket.
The two dealers have been identified as Bharat, resident of GB Nagar, UP and Devender, resident of Aligarh, UP, an official said on Tuesday.
Their names were revealed during questioning of two other defendants Kuldeep and Dilbagh, who were arrested by police on November 23.
“This gang had been operating for six months and supplied over 100 illegal pistols to various Delhi-NCR gangsters and criminals,” Deputy Police Commissioner Shankar Choudhary said.
The official said the gang has been very active in smuggling illegal weapons from UP to Delhi NCR and supplying these weapons to gangsters and various criminals. The police kept a close watch and surveillance was exercised on the suppliers.
During the investigation, raids were carried out on several hideouts in Jewar and Aligarh to catch the illegal arms supplier Bharat.
Based on Kuldeep and Dilbagh’s revelations, police raided specific locations and two people – Bharat and Devender – were arrested by police.
During the investigation, two domestically produced pistols and four live ammunition cartridges were recovered from the residence of the accused Bharat.
The duo arrested, during questioning, revealed that they had used to procure the illegal weapons from one person, namely Golu from Aligarh, UP.
“Efforts are underway to reach the origin of this illegal arms union and catch the defendant Golu,” police added.
