Bangalore, December 30 (IANS): Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta on Wednesday called on relevant officials to take the necessary steps to control the spread of Covid-19 and its latest variant Omicron within BBMP boundaries by conducting operations joint police, ensuring strict enforcement of regulations issued by the state government on Wednesday.

Speaking to a virtual joint meeting of the BBMP and the police department, Gupta said that on average 150 to 200 cases of Covid are reported each day within BBMP limits.

“In the last three days, the number of cases has risen to 250. It is therefore necessary to control the spread of the virus. For this, BBMP officials and police personnel will have to carry out joint operations,” he said. -he declares.

Gupta said regulations issued by the state government must be strictly enforced. Restaurants, pubs and clubs should only be allowed to operate with a capacity of 50 percent of the seats. The personnel working there must have a negative RT-PCR certificate and must be doubly vaccinated. Only clients who have taken both doses of the vaccine should be allowed, he said.

As per the guidelines, New Years celebrations would not be allowed anywhere in the city after 10 p.m. Action would be taken if such cases were discovered, Gupta said.

Speaking at the meeting, city police commissioner Kamal Pant said: “The nighttime curfew after 10 p.m. is strictly enforced in the city to control the spread of Covid-19. Regulations issued by the government must be strictly enforced. Steps must be taken to avoid public gatherings. “
