Brahmavar, January 2: Minister Sunil Kumar visited the home of Rajesh, victim of police atrocities committed by staff from the Kota Police Station, who allegedly beat and harassed family members and Rajesh during the Mehendi program held at the settlement Koraga from Kotathattu gram panchayat.

Speaking to the media after the visit, Sunil Kumar said: “I condemn the arbitrariness of the police and regret the incident. As I was on a state tour, my visit was delayed for a day. Certainly, the police officers from the Kota police station have done their homework with the Koraga community, which is financially and socially backward. There is no question for me of defending the police. I will condemn this with strong words.

“Kota Srinivas Poojary immediately visited the family and took corrective action. Interior Minister Araga Jnanendra also consoled the family on Saturday. He ensured the action and compensation of the house as well as the social assistance service. I will ask the district administration and other relevant officers to work within the confines of this incident.

“When government officials carry out their duties, they must be careful not to hurt any community. I will hold another round of talks with the district administration on the bogus case filed by Kota police personnel on the unfortunate Koraga family.

“The district administration is ready to do justice to the family in accordance with the instructions given by the Minister of the Interior. In the future, this type of incident should not happen again. Corrective action will be taken in this regard, ”he said.
