Kochi, December 29 (IANS): Popular actor Dileep, who is accused in the infamous actress kidnapping case, suffered a shock on Wednesday when police approached the lower court to request a further investigation into the case in light of new revelations.

This development came at a time when the trial in the special tribunal case here was about to end shortly.

The actress was kidnapped and assaulted in a moving car in Kochi on February 17, 2017, and Dileep was arrested in July 2017 in connection with the case, spending several weeks in jail before being granted bail.

He was named an accomplice in the case, accused of “crime of revenge”.

Police filed the petition in court after director Balachandra Kumar’s disclosure when he said shortly after Dileep was released on bail he saw footage of the assault on the actress in the car.

Kumar also claimed that the visuals were handed over to the actor by a VIP and that he was aware of all of this.

By the way, so far only the lower court has seen these visuals and if Kumar’s statement is true then it will be a serious problem.
